Buddha's lucky foot

Buddha's lucky foot

19 July 2009

The oldest known carving of the Buddha inside the Qinglin Cave, one of the caves beneath the Flying Peak. People stop to touch the Buddha's left foot (and be photographed doing so) in the hope that it will bring them good luck, and the resulting smoothing of the rock can be seen in the photo.
