Fairy Island

Lesser Yingzhou (小瀛洲) is a man-made island in the West Lake that was constructed in 1607 from silt dredged from the lake. Inside the island is a smaller lake, and inside that a smaller island. The entire island is covered by pagodas and walksways, and the different parts linked by bridges.

Off the southern side of the island lie the three small stone pagodas that, when illuminated at night, give the illusion of "Three Pools Mirroring the Moon", one of the Ten Scenes of the West Lake.
