Jingci Temple

Jingci Temple

20 July 2009

The Jingci Temple (净慈寺) or Temple of Pure Compassion stands at the foot of Nanping Hill. It was first founded during the Ten Kingdoms period (907-960) but as with many of the sights around the West Lake it has been rebuilt many times, most recently in the 1980s. Here it can be seen undergoing more renovation works, covered not in bamboo scaffolding but in rather rusty metal.
