Saturday, 2 August 2014

Two views of Didcot Power Station taken from Didcot Parkway railway station. The first was taken on 12 March 2013, less than two weeks before the power station closed. The second is from 27 July 2014, just after three of the cooling towers were demolished.

Didcot Power Station gallery

Saturday, 12 July 2014

Didcot Power Station was completed in 1968. In 2013, it was closed down. At the end of July 2014, the first three of the cooling towers are due to be demolished. As a tribute to this fixture of the south Oxfordshire skyline that has become synonymous with the town, I have chosen

Remembering the 2004 transit of Venus

Tuesday, 5 June 2012

On Wesnedsay morning, people in various parts of the world will have the chance to witness an astronomical event that won’t be seen again until 2117 (that’s the year, not a quarter past nine!) The transit of Venus will be best seen from east Asia and Australia. In Europe and parts of Africa it will […]

They have credited the photo to “http://jonathan.rawle.org/gallery/using/”, which is actually my page of terms and conditions for using my photos. At […]

Edinburgh photos online!

Sunday, 26 August 2007

It’s nearly two months since they were taken now, but finally I have uploaded some photos from Edinburgh. I have taken some time to write a little about each image, as I usually do, so that they become a guide to parts of the city rather than purely a set of photos. With only three […]

Total lunar eclipse

Sunday, 4 March 2007

The eclipse of the moon was visible from many parts of the world, but luckily occurred at a relatively sociable hour of the evening in western Europe. I didn’t have my tripod, so the sequence of photos above were taken with the camera hand-held, making it impossible to take a long exposure during totality. But […]

I have added a few new photos of Leicester, showing some of the current regeneration work that’s going on in the city. Featured projects include the Shires extension, the Performing Arts Centre and St George’s Tower. I plan to add to the gallery from time to time, to include more projects from different parts of […]
