Bridge of Sighs

Bridge of Sighs

23 September 2006

The Bridge of Sighs was built in 1831 to connect the New Court to the rest of college across the River Cam. It is named after the Bridge of Sighs in Venice, although the two have little in common other than both being covered bridges. (The Venice version is so named as it formed part of the prison.)
