On days with an otherwise perfect, blue sky, Didcot Power Station would generate clouds over the town and beyond. This actually had a much bigger impact on the landscape than the power station itself. Anecdotally, the power station gave Didcot and the surrounding villages their own micro-climates. There are reports of villages under the steam plume having snow when no-one else seemed to. Conversely, there were winters when most places seemed to have a severe snowfall, but Didcot got off more lightly.
The Wittenham Clumps, from which an earlier photo was taken, are clearly visible on the far right of the skyline.
