Waterloo station

Waterloo station

4 February 2007

The long extension to the station houses Waterloo International, the London terminus of the Eurostar service. The design, by Nicholas Grimshaw, has won many architectural awards. The international station will close in November 2007, after only 13 years in service, when Eurostar move to St Pancras. The future use of the station is still undecided as, despite the need for extra capacity at Waterloo, making the necessary changes to the approaching tracks would be very expensive and disruptuve.
