HTMspell is a program for spell-checking HTML files automatically, ignoring HTML tags which ordinary spell-checkers would show up as mistakes. It can also be used to check plain text files.
HTMspell requires the dictionary module supplied with Computer Concepts' Impression family of desktop publishing packages. If you use one of these programs, you will already have a copy of the necessary module.
As long as the filer has 'seen' a copy of Impression, HTMspell should be able to find the module for itself. If it is unable to find the module, you may have to load Impression first.
If you do not have an Impression program, a version, Impression Junior, is freely available, and can be downloaded from the internet. This is an early version of Impression and is now a little dated, but the spell-check module is the same as those used in later programs and will allow you to use HTMspell.
HTMspell adds an icon to the iconbar in the usual manner. To check an HTML or text file, simply drag it to this icon.
If there are any suspected spelling mistakes in the file, a window will open showing the suspect word and the context in which it appears. You then have the following options:
If you wish to abandon the spell-check at any stage, close the HTMspell window. The original file will remain unchanged.
When the whole file has been checked, the corrected file is saved and a window opens showing how many words have been replaced.
