A view over the city from Calton Hill. The tower with an unusual open structure on top, on the left, is the High Kirk, otherwise known as St Giles Cathedral (although, strictly speaking, the Church of Scotland does not have cathedrals). The next spire is that of the Hub, a former church that is now the main information centre for the Edinburgh Festival. The castle is in the centre of the picture, and the Balmoral Hotel, with its clock tower, just to the right. The domed building on the right is General Register House, which forms part of the National Archives of Scotland. The North Bridge is in the foreground to the left of the picture.
